This recorded course is for high school and college teachers who want to improve their understanding of green building principles and strategies in order to better prepare students for green jobs. Teachers will be prepared to pass the LEED Green Associate exam using a curriculum they can deliver in their classrooms. The course includes eight recorded live sessions. The LEED Green Associate Exam Preparation Guide, v.4, exam registration and classroom slides are sold separately.

Read chapter 6 & 7 during the week (1 hr)

  Session 3:  Chp. 6 Sustainable Sites

Chp. 7 Water Efficiency

Teachers create a hands-on activity for Sustainable Sites and/or Water Efficiency

Groups report on their lessons

Read chapter 8 during the week (30 min)

  Session 4:  Chp. 8 Energy & Atmosphere

Chp. 4 USGBC and LEED

Teachers create exercise that uses their school building for Energy & Atmosphere in breakout rooms

Groups report on their lessons

Read chapter 9 during the week (30 min)

  Session 5:  Chp. 9 Materials & Resources

Teachers broken into groups by job category: CTE, Environmental Science, Administrator, Non-Profit etc. and create hands-on activity for Materials & Resources

Teachers create hands-on activity using their school building for Indoor Environmental Quality in breakout rooms

  Session 7:  Chp. 11 Regional Priority, Innovation, taking the sample exam

Teachers break into groups by region and select regional priority credits for their region and design an Innovation credit or credits for their region
